Requirements:

• Biomedical Engineering or alternatively Bachelor of Science degree in any of the Human Sciences or Mechanical Engineering
• A background in Anatomy and Physiology is essential
• A good understanding and experience with the use of computers is essential
• Understanding the terminology when interacting with a surgeon – Advantage
• Good presentation and communication skills are essential
• Good time-management and working well under pressure is required
• Own Transport is essential – Occasional visit to customers or hospitals

The main purpose of this position:

This is a computer based position utilising the latest specialised surgical design software

Our client is looking for a young energetic person with great communication/presentation skills to expand the team of surgical designers

Duties & Responsibilities:

• The person will work on specialised software using data from a patient CT scan to assist surgeons in planning a large range of surgical procedures and surgical implants/devices; 3D printing surgical models, cutting guides and Patient Matched Implants
• Good presentation and communication skills are essential as communication with surgeons during planning meetings need to be of a high level
• There will be occasions where presentations to groups of surgeons or registrars at University needs to take place, and a good experience with presentation software such as PowerPoint is necessary
• Whilst the position requires a self-motivated pro-active individual who is committed to ongoing education and self-development, they will also be working as part of a close knit team and the candidate needs to be a good team player and be able to take direction and advice from the department manager and other team members
• Virtual surgical planning revolves around planning surgical procedure and is therefore deadline driven, so a well organised, committed, punctual and reliable person will succeed and flourish in this position
