Job Overview
Requirements:
- A relevant nursing qualification ( B Cur Degree/ or relevant management qualification)
- Must have a post basic ICU qualification
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience as a Unit Manager/shift leader
- Experience working in ICU/CCU
- Compliance with the SANC code for a Registered Nurse and all applicable health care legislations
- Compulsory BLS certification
- Computer Literacy
- Knowledge on Kronos will be beneficial
- Flexible in working hours/Shifts
The main purpose of this position:
The Unit Manager will also be responsible for monitoring and ensuring that quality nursing care and service delivery is implemented and practiced within a multidisciplinary team
In accordance, the Unit Manager will be accountable and responsible for coordinating capacity building, mentoring, coaching, training and development in his / her unit
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Ensure that your unit is providing safe, cost-effective quality patient care in line
- with the clinical governance strategy of client / hospital and evidence-based practice
- Evaluate the patient’s journey via patient experience and stakeholder contribution
- Evaluate and monitor nursing quality indicators and clinical outcomes
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding their care
- Promote health and wellbeing of patients and employees
- Ensure the principles of infection prevention and all international standard precautions are adhered to
- Implement group quality initiatives
- Liaise with public liability regarding all incidents of potential risk to the business
